tired and content....
Oldest is 2 1/2 and have another one on the way.....is it pointless to worry about a double stroller? I don't want to pay all that money for one and barely use it. Thoughts?

No i would pay the money for one:)

I was on the Babies R Us website and saw the sit and stand ones. You can still put an infant car seat in the front (like the travel systems) and the older toddler can sit or stand on the back. I'm not sure if that would be better or not. My toddler is VERY active and I don't see him holding my hand safely or staying right by my side while I am pushing the baby in the stroller.

They also had a double stroller that the older child could sit in the front seat (I believe it said up to 40 lbs) and the infant could lay in the back seat and it also worked with an infant seat. My toddler is 34 lbs now....

I'd say go for it. I have twins, but when they were born my oldest was only 18 months old.

I carried a baby in a front carrier and put the other 2 into the double stroller.

Look on Craigslist and post on FreeCycle, you never know....

I have 2, one is a Graco (was like under $200) and I also have a Jeep umbrella one (double) that reclines - That was under $100.

You could also look into the sit 'n go types. sit n stand stroller baby trend : Target Search Results

Good luck and CONGRATS!!!!!

Depends on how much walking you do around the neighborhood and how often you are out with just you and the kids.

They are too bulky to carry around in the car all the time. Our first two are a little less than 2-1/2 years apart. We usually go out with the whole family or else leave the kids home with one parent while the other goes out alone. The double stroller was the biggest waste of money.

Come to think of it, the Graco one, I NEVER use. You caa have it if you want to try it out, that way you aren't wasting any money. It's almost 3 years old but hasn't really been used much at all. Let me know.

I use the Jeep one for everything, it folds up so little and fits anywhere. The only problem with side by sides is you have to maneuver it just right or it'll get stuck! That's why I got the tandem as well.

I have a Peg Perego Venezia stroller that I purchased almost 5 years ago. It is awesome! I used it for #1 as a pram (with the boot etc) and then as a regular stroller. When #2 came along 2 years later, #1 would stand on the foot rest and I push them around. With #3 I'll do the same and in times when they are all tired, I will have #3 in the sling, #2 in the seat and #1 on the back of the stroller. I have done this with some of the kids in the neighborhood and it's not bad. The Venezia can be controlled with one hand as needed and the fabric is removable and washable so it still looks brand new. Besides my jogging stroller I have never needed another one. There are no cup holders, but you can easily place shopping bags on the hooks on the handle. I have traveled by air with my two kids and this stroller is by far the best baby product I have owned. It folds easily with one hand and a foot and fits nicely in my trunk. Also, when folded, it also stands up on its own in case you need to store it in a garage etc. We have been everywhere with it, malls, fairs, daily trips to the grocery store. It cost about $300 five years ago, but I figure since I am now planning on using it with baby #3 and have never bought another stroller (besides the jogging one), it was well worth the investment. Have fun stroller buying.

The sit and stand ones are a waste of money. The side by side ones make no sense. They do not fit between racks in a store and are a PITA in the mall as people bump into them. However, the front and back double stroller are well worth the money. Target had one for $120. :yay:

I'd say spend the extra dough...it'll be worth it when you're out in public, you don't have to worry about the 2 1/2 year old wandering off or chasing him/her all over creation 'cause we all know how at that age they like to test their limits...Do it for your own peace of mind.

You are right, I deal with the side-by-side b/c I barely use it now that the twins are almost 3. It says that anywhere a wheelchair can fit, the stroller can fit, but I have tried going through handicap doors with no luck.

We just bought an Expedition but when I have the 3rd row up, the tandem will not fit in the back. In my van, the tandem fit no problem behind the 3rd row.

I did but I wasted money twice on buying the front back double strollers before I got smart and fust payed the money for the side by side jogging one. It was worth it but make sure if you get the jogging one like I did that you get the one that has the pin in the front to take out for everyday use and not just jogging. I think the weight on them is 100 total.

Mine have always fell apart but I like the side by side one. I also use it mostly when walking in places outside but I have used it in stores.

We opted not to and our oldest was the same age. In hindsite, we really wish we had purchased the stroller with the seat on the back for the oldest to sit on. The double strollers that are wide seem like a pain in the butt to get around stores.
