I was wondering that as well.Where can you find Twinkies?
WR, cooking is like great sex. You will not get it right the first time. It's a lot of trial, error, and experimentation. In other news...
I made...er... *tried* to make homemade cinnamon rolls about 45 minutes ago.
When I put them in the oven, they were BEAUTIFUL and I was soooo proud of me...
Well, evidently the extra yeast I decided to put in them to make them extra fluffy was not such a good idea. The rolls rose so much that they spilled over and got all over the bottom of my oven... What a smokey mess
I sent my husband to the store to get pop-tarts and ice cream.
I have done my weekly baking experiment and it is safe to say, I still suck at it.
I have to make Bubba's birthday cake on Saturday!!!Someone come help me for the love of GOD....
Anyone? Vrai, iCit, Socki, Bueller!!??![]()

Basic tips for baking and experimenting:
1. Place a cookie sheet or foil at the bottom of the oven that is larger than the dish you are baking in, to catch any possible drips.
2. Preheat oven for at least 15 minutes to ensure the internal temperature is correct.
3. When baking cakes, pies, cookies, etc, make sure the rack is in the middle of the oven and the baking dish is in the center of the rack.
4. Do not open the oven during baking. This causes uneven temperatures and may cause uneven baking, especially in cakes. (Cake is higher on one side than the other)
5. General estimate of using yeast- It will double the size of the dough. Using more than the recipes calls for will make the dough size become more than double.
Ex (This does depend on the recipe..the example is just to help give you a “visual”):
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast per 6 cups flour.
Break down:
1 1/2 tablespoons for 6 cups flour
1 tablespoon for 4 cups flour
1/2 tablespoon for 2 cups flour

This is EXCELLENT advice.Just be sure to bake the cake a day or two in advance in case bad things happen.
You are welcome. I have been cooking for 30 years and love it. I was taught by my mother and she was an amazing cook. I had never seen her use a recipe and everything she ever cooked was delicious. I wish I could say the same. I love cooking and I am always experimenting. Sometimes my new creations come out deliciously to-die-forThanks!!!!!

Cooking IS experimenting. It’s chemistry for your tummy!
Quick history lesson on Flambé…(To drench with a liquor, such as brandy, and ignite.)
Flambé can be traced all the way back to the 14th century. As the “Story” goes…
In the 19th century, a waiter accidentally set fire to a pan of crepes, he called it Crepe Suzette, naming it after a companion of Edward VII of the United Kingdom. Some say this is true, some say it is not, it can be found in some encyclopedias.
The moral- a cooking accident turned into something spectacular.
So..Experiment away!! But have a back-up plan in place, just in case!
I'm always creating recipes and trying new ones, usually dinner. On these days I always have another meal that is quick and easy to prepare incase the new creation/experiment is bad. I have had some (following instructions usually) that turned out so bad I didn’t even ask my family for their opinions. I just dumped it in the trash and cooked something else. Beloved husband would walk in the kitchen as I am scrapping it into the trash and ask, “That bad huh?” my reply, “OMG! Never again”
It has become a running joke in our house. We anticipate the final dish with equal parts excitement and trepidation…lol

Try a Baked Alaska!I can cook... I just can't bake.![]()
I don't think I will attempt flambé any time soon.![]()
Don't feel bad. I make awesome pies, my apple pie is to die for. My biscuits will kill you, fall apart on contact, or can be mass produced as NHL hockey pucks.I can cook... I just can't bake.![]()
After reading about the grill, if you do, please have husband on stand-by with fire extinguisher.I don't think I will attempt flambé any time soon.![]()
Just teasing, I have no want to cook anything flambé because I am severely accident prone and I already know I look funny without eyebrows!WR - Have fun experimenting.WR, cooking is like great sex. You will not get it right the first time. It's a lot of trial, error, and experimentation.
