Stupid Red Lights

Is it just me or are the stoplights running the length of Rt 235 designed and engineered to be timed at the absolute most innefficient frequency possible?

Here's an interesting antecdote. I was coming from a side-road onto Rt 235. There was absolutely no traffic coming from either direction, yet I sat there waiting and waiting, seriously contemplating running the mother ####er, but convinced there was a cop hiding and waiting to pounce.

Anyway, I sat there for a couple minutes, when finally some traffic starts coming from both directions.

And THAT'S when the light turned green. Just in time to make all the other cars stop.

:burning:

There was no reason for anyone to wait, but it's like the light was designed to maximize the waiting period for everyone involved. It's simply ridiculous.

This morning, I was on the other side, and I got to stop at almost every single red light up the entire length of 235 from Rt. 4 to the base.

Who can we KILL to get this inefficient ludicrous situation rectified?

You know it didn't do that before all the Sheetz and WaWas started popping up around here. Is someone getting a kickback from the gas companies?

Let me share a peice of my loving mothers advice with you.

Now Toxick, there are children starving in West Virginia! Do you really think this problem is so big now?

Don't you feel stupid, ridiculous and down right selfish for complaining in the first place?

Some people don't even have cars to drive! They have to walk 20 miles every morning just to get to minimum wage jobs.

These same people never complain! They are happy to have feet to carry them! You on the other hand, whine and complain over the most ridiculous things!

Let's hope that one day you don't suffer like others! Lets hope that you never have to truly suffer!

God help you if you ever face a true problem!

Now get out of my face! I can't even look at you right now!

Do what I did. Move.

Seriously, I feel your pain. I used to be able to make my old house in Lusby to the base in 20 minutes back in the 80's. Now it's more like 30 minutes or more, and heaven help you if there's an accident. :yikes: Part of moving where I did was to get out of this on-going horror. It was a BIG factor in where I bought the property for my house.

But now I have to deal with the Great Mills Road and Route 5 intersection fiasco. Fortunately, it only rarely backs up and usually only adds about 2 or 3 minutes to the commute.

I don't know who you can talk to about it, sorry. But I hope you feel better after venting. :cheesy:

You gotta join the pack

The signals are timed to move platoons (packs) of cars up & down 235. You must have got caught between cycles, or you were on one of the sacrificial side roads that have less efficient timing to better serve 235 and/or an adjacent major intersection.

Or, an emergency vehicle tripped the preemption and the signals were not yet back in coordination. Next to a lane block, nothing can hose a rush hour like an emergency vehicle disrupting the timing.

If it is a continuing problem, contact SHA in Leonardtown.
