We took out the gas water heater and replaced it with electric to cut the bill down, and they jump the price up!! ARRG.
The stove is only 4 years old and cost a bundle so i can't really replace it. :frown:

Taylor has it for $3.35 a gallon if you buy 100 gallons or more. Their tank rental is free as long as you buy at least twice as much as your tank holds per year. So if you have a 100 gallon tank, you would have to buy 200 gallons over the year.

They charge you more because you use less. It's probably cheaper (not necessarily safer) to buy your own small tank /regulator and have it filled at a pumping station. If you do decide to go this route just tell them to pick your tank up because you're switching to electric and then let someone who knows what they are doing hook up your new tank. Remember -- Safety First!

Oh yeah, they should credit your acct with whatever gas is left in the tank. If they try to charge you a removal fee or processing fee ask to speak to the mgr directly (dont bother with customer service ladies) and argue it ...... you will usually win. My hubby did this when we got rid of the services.

I don't have any problems with Suburban.

I just received a bill for $60.88 for 11.6 gal of propane. We only use it for our gas fireplace and we don't use the fireplace very often. I can't complain here because $60 isn't that much to get upset over.

You should have gotten tankless gas water heater or tankless electric water heater. I have tankless electric water heater, and my electric bill went down about $100 to $150 a month off since we got rid of tank water heater. :yay:

For some reason my PMer is brokeded. I'm interested in the water heater and heat. I'm not familiar with gas heat and was wondering if it heated water to go thru pipes, or radiated heat and if it used forced air. I will reboot and try PMer in the morning. I have too much open to do it this late in the day. Thanks!

Who did you get your electric tankless water heater through? Was it a local company? I've been thinking about this and thought there were only gas operated ones. Any information would be great. PM it to me if you want. Thanks.

We ordered it from Lowes' and it arrived within a week or so. We hired a private local licensed electrician to install it for us.

Bosch Tankless water heater is the one you will want to order from Lowes' or directly from the website from www.bosch.com

I switched to United Propane about two years ago and halved my bill.

Funny thing too because the price is about the same.

My neighbor switched right after I did and saved a bundle too.

HMMMMMMMMMMMM makes ya wonder doesnt it?

When I called around last year Southern Maryland Oil was the cheapest at $3.39/gallon for my 125 gallon tank (fireplace only but we have to use it for heat since electric heat SUCKS).

I got on the automatic refill program thinking it was going to lock in the price-WRONG!!!!!! Just had them fill it at their leisure about a month or so ago and they send me a bill for $3.79/gallon. Called and tried to argue by they pretty much told me to get lost.

Unfortunately, $3.79/gallon is still cheaper than all the other places I called... It's a pain proving that you own the tank as well.

Did you have someone come out and put a regulator on the line for you or did you do it yourself?

I'm looking to do the same ... and I have no idea of where to get a regulator and I'm going to end up getting overcharged because I'm completely clueless when it comes to propane.
