Successful Capture!

Just sneakin' around....
So the Starship blew up when it tipped over, as was halfway expected to do. This was after mission complete, which was to land it upright at zero velocity. Then it settled and tipped, then blew.
No only to land upright, but to land on point, where they wanted and intended.

Also, reentry and landing was accurate that the damn thing was in sight of the buoy they had there waiting for it.

Unqualified success. We did see some burn through on one flap, but that was also expected. This Ship was the last of the old flap design. Next ship to fly will have a better design. And Flight Sixs profile already has FAA approval. Hardware is built or close to, /could fly before the end of the year.

So the booster landed successfully and the part that would have been carrying people exploded?

Not sure how that would be a win. :scratchinghead:

The mission was 2 fold: successful capture of the booster with the salad tongs, and the delivery of the main stage back to a specific landing point. Both boxes got checked. It was unfortunate it fell over on landing, but it won't be re-used anyway. There is a new variant to be tested next, new style fins and other mods.

I mean I wouldn't call it. Unfortunate that it tipped over it had no choice. It landed on the ocean. Once it achieved a straight vertical position in zero velocity meaning it could have been caught this test article's job was done.
