Suddenly appearing apps

I should file this under "Conspiracy Theories." I connected my android to my desktop PC the other day to load some music onto it. All well and good, but last night, I noticed an app on its desktop that I hadn't put on there. I do have it on my iPad, but obviously I don't have it on my desktop PC, mainly because it doesn't do any good there. Any thoughts? How can they put apps on my phone that I didn't want on there? How can I make it stop?

This is not the first time something like that has happened, either. I took a picture of my wife with my iPad, and suddenly, it's the default picture for my android's contact list for her entry. I did not do that; it did it on its own...which also begs the question as to how it knew that that particular picture belonged to my wife?

Next time I upgrade, I'm going back to a "dumb" phone.

The picture could easily be explained with the facial recognition software that Google, and Apple use. Assuming that it went to a basic shared storage area that would make sense, it automatically making it the default picture though, that is strange.

As for the auto apps, I have seen it a few times on phones when people downloaded junk apps, they are granted permission to install stuff on the device and then you get random apps that serve no purpose.

This is a Walgreen app, which I use with my iPad, but never with my phone...never occured to me, I guess. I've only ever downloaded a few apps for my iPad and for the phone. Pandora for both, iheart music (which I've never used), firefox for the phone, a couple of microsoft apps, and kindle for the ipad.

I guess it's like malware and unwanted programs on your computer...they figure it's okay to tack all that crap onto adobe, for instance.
