In My Opinion
Been a while since Ive ridden.. 13 years to be exact.
thinking on getting back to the cycle and have started looking around at some of the new 2007s out there.
last bike was a 1300, but Im thinking of dropping back to a 900 or 1000.
I want at least the windshield and the side bags with back rest.
DO NOT WANT ANYWHERE ON THE BIKE THAT A PAN COULD BE STORED FOR EASY ACCESS!!!
so far Im looking at Kaw, and Yamaha. (dont really like the harley)

The other thing Im concerned with and will have to see if its a show stopper for me is my left foot. When my back went on my this last time, it pulled a nerve out of the spine and I have very limited (read almost none) ability to lift my foot, so I have to see if upshifting is even possible. Cant ride an automatic because I like the opposite sex, not the same sex.

so, based on that, what would you all suggest I look into.

by the way, I do have well over 100k of riding in all types of weather and road conditions, with and without trailers on the bike, so given a bit of relearning curve on some good roads Im not too concerned with keeping the bike on the wheels.

What style are you looking for, Cruiser, sport (not recommended if you have back problems), sport touring, adventure touring, dual sport?
Bags and a windshield can be added to just about any bike.

My V Strom is considered an adventure touring bike. Upright seating position, pleanty of clearance for corners.

No, I'm at work :(

I already got mine blessed last weekend and I really don't feel the need to go put my nice shiney bike in a semi muddy grass field with 200+ other bikes so I can listen to Foghat and get sunburned

Not many do unless you ridden one or got ridden by one who rides one :p :buddies:
Rode one from Va Beach to Ft Lauderdale in 85, just didnt like it. prefer to ride the rice burners.
I do like they way they look though.

 I've ridden several.
Heavy, slow with excessive vibration. Expensive starter kit for HD's extensive accessory catalog. They have made major improvements in the last few years, but I still think they're way over priced for what you get.

Cruiser.
back would not allow for the layed over style of the sport.
Not really looking for speed, and have no intention of the front wheel leaving the road.. anymore.
Would like the full faring with radio, but not a deal breaker if its not there.

Speed, yes, they're fine, but comfort not so good...

BS Gal has a rebel in her garage that she is trying to sell

sorry........had too
I might try to con her into letting me ride it once or twice to see if my foot is going to work properly or not.
would hate to get a new bike and not be able to get it out of first gear.

When you save $10K on the purchase price, you can afford a damn nice aftermarket seat

I know a few folks with the Kawi 900, they all love it.

I get to film this, right?

btw......APS, you need to take a ride on my bike....it's not slow and the vibration is just enough for me

the one I rode was an FLS I think. (could be wrong)
the take off was slow, but it was more than enough to be safe.
it did have vibration, but, you got used to it after a few hundred miles.
I think what I noticed the most between the Harley and my Voyager was that the harley seemed to be more top heavy than the voyager and it did not instill a feeling of confidence in the turns.
I also had the need to stop and walk around more when on the Harley than on the voyager due to the rider position.

but in all fairness, nothing gets the eye quicker than a tricked out harley.
