Explorations in Monotype Workshop, July 9, 1:00 - 4:00 pm.Fee: *$30 for MCAC members / $40 for nonmembers. Instructor: Harriett Lawler. A monotype is a one-of-a-kind print where the paint (oil paint, oil-based ink or watercolor) is applied directly to a printing plate. Then, the paint is transferred to the printing paper by running the plate and paper through a press. There are many techniques for producing monotypes, including subtractive, additive, color blending, and painterly, and they can be abstract or realistic. For this workshop, we will focus on the texture transfer technique. *Printing paper will be available for purchase at a cost of $1.25 per sheet. Students must bring paper towels and pay a $10.00 lab fee for all other materials.
