Summer Vacation

Just firmed up my plans for a week at Hilton Head over Memorial Day.

Anyone been down there before? What are the places/things/events I shouldn't miss?

Well - take plenty of moola. Seriously - things are so frigging expensive in HH it isn't even funny. However, on the positive side, right outside of town (before going over the bridge) there is a big huge shopping outlet that has brand name at way below clearance. Used to love that place. Much better than the mall in HH. Also lots of golfing in the area. Beaches are small but real clean. They have rules about signage, so even McDonald's has real small wooden signs, so things can be easy to miss if you aren't looking for them. Great food. I suggest an oyster bar. Also I would suggest a day trip (hour's drive) to Savannah and hit River Street and maybe do a carriage tour. Have fun.

Well then, if you do hit up River St. in Savannah - stop in Wet Willy's and have an "Attitude Adjustment" for me (just make sure ya aren't driving)

Mig is 100% right about the Savannah & Riverwalk..What a fun place, especially in the summer. I know you'll have a great time.

I liked it much better than HH. Like mig said, bring lots of $$$ if you're going to HH. We also had fun and excellent food at Tybee Island, which is about 20 minutes from Savannah. If you go there, make sure you have a low country boil at the crab shack.

Purty! Can't wait to go...we're renting a 5 bedroom house for the week. Should be a great time...

And your weather should be great. 2 years ago I was swimming in the ocean at HH on April 18th and the water was warm.

My dad is green with envy--he wants to travel in my suitcase just so he can play golf down there. My friend plans to bring golf clubs, but I'll be on the beach!
