I noticed that, too. And no typically grassy looking pattern, either. So I looked it up. Fieldturf®.
I've seen some of the home improvement shows laying artificial down, and most of the better quality brands look much more realistic than the astroturf from the days of old. I saw (and walked on) some up close at Bolling when we were having our work picnic, and it was surprisingly better looking than I'd thought fake turf would be. They had a lot of padding underneath it (since it was a kids' play area), which made it very bouncy.
But it looks terribly fake on TV.
