Supplemental basement heating

Is it possible to install a pellet stove in a below ground basement?
Our basement is finished but you need a coat in down there in the winter. I want to get a pellet stove but I am not sure if it is possible (either physically or economically) to get the vent through the concrete blocks behind the walls.
Is it?

Put a pellet stove in your basement and some vents in your floors you can heat your entire house with it.

Do you own one? We've had one for 3 years now. Kept us toasty the first year we had it. But we couldn't afford to eat.

We've learned to keep it in a smaller area and only use it when the furnace can't keep up or is on constantly. It's definitely not an affordable main source of heat, but better for small supplemental heating. Our kids bought a small space heater (the kind that looks like a radiator) and set it in the hallway on the 2nd floor - it kept the entire 2nd floor comfortable enough that the furnace rarely (maybe never) turned on up there. And the bills weren't anything like the Eden.

Venting whatever you decide on would be best. Pellet stoves and gas units only require a 3 - 4" exhaust (in most areas). You should be able to rent a large drill motor and diamond tipped holesaws No sweat. This video would give you an idea just how easy it is. The bits are super expensive, so rental or hiring out is the best way to go.

We have one of these that we got from my in-laws. Doesn't make the basement real warm but it's better than nothing. You have to sit right next to it to feel the warmth really well. Prbably can't find them around anymore because I'm sure it's from the 1970's.
