So what you’re saying is either PAY for this or PAY for that. You call that a choice? That’s like saying “You have two choices, either jump off this 100’ cliff or that 110’ cliff”. The end result is the same, you are FORCED to pay for something you may not want to buy; if you don’t you must PAY the penalty/tax.
But the bigger fundamental part you seem to be ignoring is that Obamacare was pushed through and passed as a 'commerce' bill. We have quote after quote of Obama saying it's NOT a tax. Now the court is saying this does not meet constitutional muster under the commerce clause but it does as a tax. And Obama is touting this as a win. Obama should be infuriated with this decision on two grounds: 1) Roberts and the assenting voters changed the intent of the law and 2) Now Obama can’t escape being caught up in a lie that we wont see a dime of our taxes go up. Will now we will. A potential political nuclear bomb. This is being reported as the biggest tax hike in history. And you libs feel good about that?

A big part of the reason that medical is so expensive for those of us with insurance is that we are already paying for all of those who either can't afford or CHOOSE NOT TO PAY FOR THEIR OWN coverage. Health costs have spiraled due to legal issues and (as "thatguy" says above), the fact that we are all paying for those that dont pay. At a very minimum, those that dont pay for insurance in this country are most probably not competing with those that do for the highest quality care. Obamacare wants to put everyone on the same playing field regardless of how much they pay now. And that is Socialism 101. This is a simple case of those who have paying for those who cant once again. Nothing has really chafed about Obama care other than that. He promised socialized medicine and he delivered. Calling the penalty a tax really doesn't affect much at all. It is very doutlbful that the people who were going to vote for Obama care what you call it. And the folks on the right weren't going to be happy or vote for him anyway.

On a side note every year it costs more to repeal the law, which explodes the deficit. CBO says repeal would costs $230 billion. Basically Republicans are full of donkey dung when they say repeal and replace.
