Supreme Court restricts EPA's authority to regulate power plant emissions

The 6-3 decision overturned a lower court ruling that gave the federal agency virtually unlimited regulatory powers through the Clean Air Act.

Maybe a dumb question, but why have a federal agency tasked with "environmental protection" and take away all their teeth? Maybe rename it "environmental suggestions agency" or somesuch.

You know - I don't know. With agency regulation having the full force of LAW, it does bother me that unelected people CAN have such far-reaching influence on my life. It does seem to me that federal government agencies assume control of things because state governments WON'T.

If a situation requires a change not mandated in the original law supplemental laws .. go back to Congress for more laws

Their "teeth" should be provided by federal laws, meaning those enacted by Congress and not the magic pen used by the Executive branch.
