PGPD Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting on Atlee Drive

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged a suspect in Tuesday evening’s homicide in Landover. The suspect is 32-year-old Christopher Daniel Butler of Capitol Heights. He is charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Anthony Yelverton of Washington, DC.

On October 26, 2021, at approximately 6:45 pm, patrol officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 1000 block of Atlee Drive. Once on scene, officers located the victim inside of a home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A security officer working in the area detained Butler after the shooting until PGPD officers arrived.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim after an argument. The victim and suspect are known to each other.

Butler is charged with second degree murder and additional charges. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
