The suspect wanted for a fatal shooting Tuesday night is now in custody. He’s 31-year-old Darius Jackson of Oxon Hill. He is charged with the murder of 58-year-old Jerome Stocks of Laurel.

On November 26, 2024, at approximately 9:05 pm, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 12000 block of Silverbirch Lane in the unincorporated section of Laurel. Officers located the victim outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified Jackson as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit located and arrested him today.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim over a dispute with the victim’s family member. They were known to each other.

Jackson is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
