The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection with the murder of his father. The suspect is 22-year-old Christopher Wiley Cooper of Fort Washington. He’s charged with the murder of 59-year-old Patrick Cooper of Fort Washington.
On March 14, 2025, at approximately 5:00 am, officers responded to a home in the 8000 block of Den Meade Avenue for the report of an attempted suicide. Officers located the victim, Patrick Cooper, in the residence suffering from trauma. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Patrol officers also located the suspect, Christopher Cooper, in the home. He was suffering from multiple stab wounds to the abdomen which were self-inflicted. The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment where he remains with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect fatally assaulted the victim before stabbing himself. An autopsy revealed the victim died from blunt force trauma.
Christopher Cooper is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges.
