PGPD Suspect in Custody in Beltsville Fatal Stabbing

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a man in connection with a fatal stabbing in Beltsville in March. The suspect is 21-year-old Jose Hernandez Martinez of Beltsville. He is charged with the murder of 70-year-old Lucas Pineda Cardona of Beltsville.

On March 10, 2024, at approximately 9:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 11400 block of Queen Anne Avenue for a stabbing. Once on scene, they discovered the victim inside of a residence suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect stabbed the victim during a dispute. The victim and suspect were known to each other and resided in the same home.

Hernandez Martinez is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. With the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, he was taken into custody in Pittsboro, North Carolina on Tuesday. He remains there awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
