Thanks to a tip from a citizen, the suspect wanted for the murder of 27-year-old Jessica Somerville is now in custody in North Carolina. With the assistance of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (NC) and the U.S. Marshals Service, 23-year-old Raheem Hawkins-Boseman of Silver Spring, was arrested late Wednesday night at a home in Leland, North Carolina.

On March 17, 2024, at approximately 2:15 am, officers responded to a shooting in the 5800 block of Silver Hill Road. Somerville was located outside of a business suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene. Through various investigative techniques, the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Hawkins-Boseman two days later on March 19, 2024.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect followed the victim outside of a fast food restaurant after a brief dispute and shot her in the parking lot. They were not known to each other prior to the encounter inside of the business.
