Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives charged two suspects in connection with a fatal stabbing Wednesday night. The suspects are 34-year-old Alexis Romero of Fairmount Heights and 27-year-old Edward Mejia-Sandoval of Silver Spring. They are charged with fatally stabbing 23-year-old Lusvin Espana Espana of Hyattsville.

On April 10, 2024, at approximately 10:50 pm, officers responded to a business in the 6500 block of New Hampshire Avenue for a stabbing. Officers located the victim inside of a restaurant suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. A second adult male was also taken to the hospital with stab wounds. His injuries are preliminarily considered life-threatening.

Hyattsville Division I patrol officers located and arrested the two suspects shortly after the incident. The preliminary investigation revealed the suspects stabbed the victims during a dispute. The victims and suspects were not known to each other.

Romero and Mejia-Sandoval are charged with first and second degree murder. They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
