Swai?

I've noticed this fish is being sold in most of the grocery stores I shop at. Sam's Club and Walmart had a ton of it. It's really cheap. I did some research and didn't find a lot about it. Seems to be new. It's a catfish, very inexpensive and can be made several different ways. This article is dated January 2009 although I just started noticing the sale of it a couple of weeks ago.

Consumer Reports Money & Shopping Blog: What the heck is ‘swai’?

My question, has anyone here tried it, does it taste like catfish? Catfish is one of the only types of fish I don't like.

I think that swai is a Vietnamese cat fish. The Cafe Des'artist in Leonardtown has it on their menu. I have not tried it ,but if Chef Loic serves it it's probably good.

Cafe 59 on 3rd street SW had it one day last week on their lunch buffet. It was broiled and was delicious!!! It didn't have the texture of catfish I'm used to. It didn't taste "fishy". It was flakey and :yum: Give it a try.

Thanks, I'll pick some up next time I go shopping and give it a try.
