Swollen corner of mouth

I already have an appointment for Friday afternoon, but I'm just wondering what I might be getting into. Hoping it's just an allergy, but has anyone seen issues with swollen lips in the corner of the mouth? His teeth and gums are fine, so I was thinking it's either the allergy thing, or an infection of the scent glands. Would the scent glands swell up in that particular area? Also saw feline ECG, which would be horrible, but as they say, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Any other ideas? Doesn't seem to be painful to him, but it is a little red.

bite?

Does it look like a bite mark? Mine had a spot like that, and it was a bee sting. Another one had a spot and it turned out to be a mark from another cat that was infected. Check and see if there is an open sore or something in the fur that might be causing it. If so, make sure it's open and draining.

Doesn't look like a sting, but it could be a scrape from the other cat that's gotten a bit infected. I'd imagine licking their litter-feet and balls are a great way to get an infection on your mouth in a simple cut.

I'll do another once-over for anything open when I get home. Been trying to keep an eye on it anyway.

Oh right, if anyone was interested, it was just an ulcer. They said it was something equivalent to a cold sore on people, that it was likely caused by the feline herpes virus he managed to catch as a baby.

Usually just manifested as eye infections, but I suppose there's a first for everything. Next time I buy kitty food I'm going to go up a few notches and try and get his system healthier overall. It's been a while since his or his brother's herpes flared up, so it's probably just a fluke.
