Can you really call it a capella when they use reverb, pitch shifting, and added percussion?

If so, I know a great a capella group you should listen to. Young man named James Hetfield and friends. Just his voice. And a few added effects and instruments and drums. And lasers.

He doesn't have added percussion - that's him.
The reverb and pitch shifting is obvious. I added the comment about percussion because it says in the video that he layers in percussion after the vocals. I guess they could be talking about his vocal percussion, but why distinguish that from the rest of the vocal sound effects he makes?
