Tanger Outlets National Harbor

Well I ventured out this morning for the grand opening to be one of the 20,000 people looking to find one of the 4,000 parking spaces. Got there about 10am., not a bad trip traffic wise if you know the back way in. The good ole boys in blue (PGPD) were doing a good job of moving traffic. The bad news they had the parking lots closed off because they were full. We had to park just past the outlets at a park and ride lot, still not a very long walk. Once into the outlet area, first stop was Under Armor, it was one of the places we were going to shop. It was right there at the entrance we came in, we were quite pleased at that time it was not very crowded, we spent maybe 40 minutes in there, the checkout lines and dressing room had no wait. Once we left there it was onto the other places to shop. The whole place was no more crowded then what you'd expect on a weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We were in many stores today and no store was overly crowded unless you like the high end Coach purse store. They were limiting the number of people in the store, and the line was probably 50 people or more outside, the line did go down later in the day to about 10 people in line. In all the stores we were in today every and I do mean every salesperson were all more then helpful, polite and friendly.
The wife and I have hit many a outlet in our time, and I think they planned out this one pretty good. The layout is nice, most of it is undercover, and there are many a place to sit for tired worn out husbands. Restrooms are plenty, and not way down on corners but in the middle of the rows of stores.
There is no food court, which might be a good thing, as those are places where all the thugs seem to hangout. Places to eat are very limited.
We left at 230 and by then the parking lots were open and there were places to park. Between now and Christmas if you are able to, during the week will probably be the best time to shop to avoid the big crowds. After our walk back to our vehicle it was out the lot and onto 210 south.
Overall I'd give the place a A+. It sure beats driving anywhere from 75-100 miles to the closest outlets to shop. :yay::yay:

They call me ... Sarcasmo
It seems that Tanger knows what they are doing when laying out their shopping centers. The ones in Myrtle Beach are probably not too different, layout wise, as the one at National Harbor.

Maybe the newer ones are better laid out. The older Tanger I frequent in NY is a disaster. Layout sucks, parking sucks. And you have to watch prices. Not always a good deal.

Although the Harry and David is a mandatory stop to refresh my supply of MarrionBerry Jelly.

Thanks for the review. I loved the Tanger Outlets back home (Long Island, NY) so I look forward to taking a drive to one that's much closer.

I went to Riverhead. Didn't know there was another one in Deer Park.

Yeah, I always made the LONG drive out to the sticks of Riverhead. I left NY 9 years ago. At that time, the outlets in Deer Park weren't built yet. You're right about the parking.....definitely could've been planned out better. But I worked nights at the time so shopping during the day, parking was pretty easy for me.

I know where GWGuy is from on the island... What part are you from? Born in Bayshore, lived on the Commack - Smithtown line till I was 13 then we moved to Manorville...... Left there Dec 26th 1975 and haven't looked back. (I have visited though! Just last August!)

I grew up in Huntington, then moved to Lindenhurst to be closer to the Ocean beaches. I often miss all the amazing beaches, the state parks, the nightlife, the proximity to NYC. But I'd never live there again and I certainly wouldn't put my son in the public schools there any longer. Sadly, the island is being taken over by gangs and illegals.....has been for quite some time now. I love to visit (the non-ghetto areas of course, lol) but I don't miss living there one bit.

The VF Outlets in Reading are pretty cool, not the big expensive designer name stuff, but your normal every day stuff Store Listings & Center Map

I use to buy many a thing at Vanity Fair when it was first at Queenstown, after it left I became a Van Hussin person and more recently a Hagger person.
The one thing I do like about Vanity Fair they have always had a nice section of sports clothes, from NHL, MLB, NFL, NBA, college and Nascar. Of course it depends where you shop and what area the Vanity Fair outlet is located as to what teams they have.
Its been close to 35 years since I went to the Lancaster outlets and shopped, all I remember bout the Vanity place there it was a madhouse.
Back then there werent nearly as many outlet places around. I dont know if you will ever see one at Tanger(National Harbor) because its (NH abit more upscale.
Several years back when VF left Queenstown, we asked some of the other employee's in the other stores why it may have closed, we were told that the owners (Premier Outlets) who were updating the place and adding more stores, was that they wanted to become more upscale. Well guess now they have changed and are going back downscale since Vanity hs been back for a couple of years now.

it was a complete Cluster ...... stay out of my back yard

Gurps you live off one of the streets that intersects with Oxon Hill Rd. in the residental part, that Ive told all the SoMd. formuies to use as a shortcut. It was quite nice to use on opening day.
Growng up in Hillcrest Hgts. as a teen, I couldnt begin to count the times that I was up and down that section of Oxon Hill Rd with my running buddy, prowling for girls on our way to Ft. Washington Park.
Its really nice folks to use as a bypass to Indain Head Hwy if your going to the outlets from the south, fewer stoplights and before you know it you go from single lane road to 6 lane road. Just be careful of police, Im sure the people who dont want us using it as a bypass through their neighborhood will complain about speed and traffic. lol
