Just curious, who says that they're going to be driving down the streets? It's not a parade as I understand it, it's a static display.
I JUST said that to Foxhound - what the heck is wrong with this? We are paying for those tanks - why shouldn't we get to see them on parade?I heard Michael Steele on someone's show saying he didn't need tanks to feel patriotic or some such nonsense.

I was at the parade after the Gulf War almost thirty years ago. Pretty sure they had tanks down Independence Avenue.
I KNOW they had stealth bombers, because at least one flew low over the crowd, and there was a loud gasp.

No, they won't actually.. in fact if they leave them on the trucks the trucks will do 10 times more damage.

Metal tracks NEVER touch the pavement, unless they haven't been maintained properly. Each piece of track has two rubber pads about 3 inches thick and 18 by 12 inches.. with the number of track shoes.. the amount of ground contact on all the pads.. damage is VERY limited.
