Tapazole 5mg - Buy it for less?

My 17 year old Manx has to take Tapazole 5mg, once each evening. The Vet sells it to me at one dollar per/pill. Sure, I can afford it, but spending money unnecessarily isn't wise. Does anyone know of a source that sells this med for a better price as a maintenance prescription? My vet will write a script for it for me.

Thanks in advance.

I used to get it at WalMart pharmacy...it was MUCH cheaper. One of my cats (deceased) was on it for years. The vet would write a prescription.

Thank you both for your answers. I'll call Wally World and see what they charge per/hundred and compare it to the online costs.

Thanks again!!!!

My cats are on the same medication and although I don't know exactly how much each pill costs, it is no where near $1 for each! My vet prescribes them and I get them filled there too. Tidewater Vet Hospital in Charlotte Hall.

My vet is good, but she's in love with money. "RockMe" she says; "I think we should run an entire battery of blood tests again" Then I say; How much is that and why should we run them? "Oh" she says, just to be safe! It's only $250.

:yay: Keep in mind the shipping costs when you order online. That can make it cost prohibitive.
Thanks, I'll include that with my comparison with Wally World's.

You can check with all pharmacies and see who's the cheapest.

You should get the kitty's blood checked yearly when he's on the Tapazole and when they get older to check for kidney issues, etc. But at 17..what are you going to do anyway? If he was 5 years younger then I'd be more diligent with the bloodwork.

I let the Vet run them every 3 months anyway. She wants to do it every month...Mo money, Mo money...

Edit: (Update)
I ended up getting the prescription filled at Walmart. $37 for 90 days. That's way better than I was paying at the vet's.

Thanks for your help!
