I'd like to see one of the Demtards explain why we shouldn't be charging the same tariff rate other countries charge us. Trump laid it out last night and it makes perfect sense. Why do we have to be the global piggybank?

Explain to me why reciprocal tariffs are such a horrible thing?

I absolutely never understood that line of thinking.

Personally I hate the "we are a service based economy" line of thinking.

Creating 1 service job, creates one service job, creating 1 manufacturing job creates 5-8 related service jobs.

We need to make things or use our natural resources to be a healthy economy.

Speaking of natural resources. Trump isn't loaning out our money until he gets a deal on the resources of the borrower.

The tariffs are not a horrible thing, and they can level the global playing field. As long as people realize that those costs will be passed on to the consumer. It's just like dems who said that the increase in minimum wage did not hurt the consumer. Hell yes, it does. It increases the bottom line product because the company passes on the cost to those who eventually buy the product.

The idea is that they move manufacture here to avoid the tariffs, which creates jobs and is good for the country.

And now there are a ton of able bodied workers to fill all those jobs immediately.

And if Mexicans and Central Americans want to come here to work, I have no heartburn with that but they have to do it legally, and they can't bring drugs and sex slaves with them.

It's such a simple and reasonable request that the Democrats look like even bigger fools to oppose it.

The Democrats have opposed everything that has been done since J-20.

Trump=the Good. Schiff-The Bad. Maxine Waters=The Ugly.

I agree with you more or less, but creating a service job also creates related jobs (manufacturing and service). Name one service that doesn't require associated goods. Even the world's oldest profession likely results in increased petroleum product sales, pharmaceuticals (penicillin), and hospitality industry use.

Or they reduce the tariffs, reducing the cost of the products on both sides. Which stimulates sales and growth on both sides. Increasing jobs and the taxes made by both countries increases on quantity of goods sold.

Which is where Trump is really going with his Canadian State jibber jabber. Gets people thinking what a US/Canadian free trade agreement looks like economically for both countries.

Don't forget the increased needs for pimps.

Who drives viewership to advertisers who in turn sell more of their product. They increase demands on infrastructure resulting in more data-centers and people to manage/work in them, and they often launch their own products.

Not to mention some of them buy a lot of crap to act as props in their streams, ala Mr. Beast.

I’m not 100% on board with tariffs overall. I get what the intent is - a stick instead of a carrot. A threat of lost trade. Implementation of fairness until our trading partners get that free trade is in everyone’s interest.

But the return of manufacturing to this country - IF it happens it will take a while. IF it happens. Makes sense but - Trump’s plan is - get everyone working, ramp up the prosperity and no free rides to anyone. What happens if they decide - eff that, we’ll just wait for a Democrat?

Public stick, private carrot. "Modi, my pal, I really don't want to tariff you, and if we can strike a deal, I wont. And that deal will be good for you and I both".

Who employs more people: a lawyer or a company that makes things?

Yet this country is lousy with freaking lawyers who have to make sht up because there's not enough legitimate work for all of them, and manufacturing has been sent overseas.

And I don't care what anyone says, it cannot possibly be cheaper to send our raw materials to China, have them make something out of them, and send the finished product back to us for retail. That's right up there with "Biden got the most votes in history". It's bullshit and there's no way it's possible.

Except it happens. I’m certain you could believe that if it were FAR LESS profitable they wouldn’t do it at all. And when China isn’t profitable - they move to Vietnam. Then Malaysia or the Phillipines.

To be frank - I have a harder time believing that foreign countries make much of a profit building things HERE.

It's called graft in the form of bribes and kickbacks. I've been saying it for years, Trump finally said it a couple days ago. He's no doubt been thinking it for decades but he has to be careful about accusations - I don't.

I didn't say service jobs were better than manufacturing. I didn't make any comparisons at all. I was simply pointing out that service jobs also have a knock-on effect of creating additional jobs.
