And THIS is why "Johnny can't read". And we as taxpayers are paying for this.
oh for god's sake, get over yourself. if "johnny can't read" there's a hell of a lot more at fault than a teacher taking too many day's off.And THIS is why "Johnny can't read". And we as taxpayers are paying for this.
What did the principal say in response to your formal complaint? After more absences last month and this month I have more concerns. She even told the class on Feb 14 she would be out on the 15th so she could celebrate Valentine's Day with her husband. Whatever. But I'm now informed that the class is well behind where they should be at this point of the year. And 2 days out last week.
Who's Johnny?
One of my kids.Who's Johnny?
No kidding. This thread was started on Jan 9th and it seems no steps have been taken to address this. Then complain to the principal. If they don't do anything about it, request your child get transfered to another class or school. I'm surprised you haven't done this already since you're so bent out of shape about it.

It seems like they're blowing you off. If that's the case, you should continue to pursue it. They're probably hoping you'll just forget about it or give up. Keep pinging them and let them know that you're very comfortable with going up the chain, up to and including the public forum nights with the elected Board of Ed.I think my kid may be in the same class. The reaction I have gotten is 'we will look into it' then nothing happens. The class is behind and most kids cannot be switched out as there is only one other class who already has more kids than my childs class.
I was told by someone I know who subbed in there that the sub sits with one group and the rest of the class is left to independently do busy work.
Honestly at this point in the year there is not much that can be done and I just cannot wait for it to be overand I guarantee my youngest will not be in that class if she is still there.
I sympathize with you, this is a horrible situation to be stuck in. It sucks that the administration doesn't seem to share your concerns about the students being behind. I wish that the OP would understand that it wasn't her concerns that many people had issue with, but rather the way it was expressed.I think my kid may be in the same class. I should call again. Honestly I am just done with this year. I am so glad my kid is above average and independent because it has not been a huge detriment to her. I feel horrible for the parents whose kids either need more help or need more of a challenge. It seems like they're blowing you off. If that's the case, you should continue to pursue it. not that i just sat here and caught up on several dozen pages, but...and send his mommy in to fight for him
Just hand out your names. That should only make it slightly quicker for some folks to figure out who you are! yeesh. Not at all. Seriously, I am laughing because this is ludicrous. Not that it's any of your business, but I happen to work in a law office and my husband is a police officer. After reading this thread he got a good laugh also. Keep on showing your idiocy...it's entertaining to us
Maybe you should be fired as a parent! Read your own statments,it was brought to your attention...by someone else, you wouldn't know had it not been for someone else.News flash teaching is a job and they get days off, they can use their days off and they don't need permission from the parents to do it,I see it's ok for you to take a day or two around the holidays but not for a teacher? Why is it that every parent knows how to teach and how the job "should" be done but never knows what is going on till someone else tells them, then they are a concerned parent. It's been brought to our attention that my son's class is behind the other classes at the school. I'd be fired if I pulled this. Prehaps she should take a leave of absence.
What exactly are working hours? Does everyone in the world work the same shift? Are businesses open only for 8 hours per day, 5 days per week? Are there not stay at home moms? The funny thing is, You saw her at the mall, which means you were not at work either.
Also, you have spent a lot of time posting in this thread during working hours... So does your boss know you spend time in the day on the internet instead of working?
So you're saying the teacher could have gone there during her lunch break, very good. What exactly are working hours? Does everyone in the world work the same shift? Are businesses open only for 8 hours per day, 5 days per week? Are there not stay at home moms?
