Teachers calling with good news???

Imagine my surprise yesterday when I get a phone that starts out, "Mrs L, this is Ms T. I am your son's teacher and I was just reading over an essay he wrote." Immediately, I'm thinking "What inappropriate thing did he write??" To my relief, she was calling to let me know how articulate she thought my son was in this particular assignment. She also said that she appreciates his avoidance of a lot of the immaturity that goes on with some of the other students in her class. And that he's always willing to volunteer and raise his hand to answer a question.

I told her I appreciated the call but told her that normally when teachers call home, it's never good news.

One of my daughters teachers called with a "good report" once. She's in high school. It was nice to hear the nice things she had to say about her. I've never received a call that was negative regarding her. My youngest however.......

Just the opposite for me! Gotten a couple "bad behavior" calls from teachers/Principal when oldest was in Middle School. He's in High School now and so far, no calls. *knocksonwood*

How nice of her to do that!

Yes, it was. I just hope that I get to see this "amazing" essay that he wrote. All I know about it is that they had to evaluate how family and friends view them as opposed to how they view themselves.

It must be a new thing SMCPS is doing? A few months ago I received a nice email from my daughter's teacher and the very next day my co-worker received a similar email about her son. Regardless, I'm glad they're doing it, it's really nice to get a message about how well your kid is doing.
