While Snopes is famous for petty picayune tearing these kinds of things up - it not only corroborates it, but goes on extensively with more quotations along the same line.

Of course, they do say "oh it wasn't in 1907 though".

I do wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment, and the recurring idea that America is not a melting pot but a patchwork of different identities - is possibly the most destructive concept in our culture today. The "Ask Marilyn" person aka Marylin vos Savant (born Marilyn Mach) has the highest recorded IQ ever recorded, once mentioned this also, as the most dangerous trend in the United States - that we are not ONE but many. Al Gore famously screwed up the concept - not surprisingly, from a Democrat - when he declared E Pluribus Unum as meaning "Out of one - many". It translates precisely the opposite - "Out of many - ONE". We are ONE people.

You can be proud of your Italian or Irish or Polish lineage - but we are Americans.

The very last thing the overlords want is a united People. They like it that we're divided and hate each other because it serves their purpose - if we're fighting with each other we won't gang up on them.

I'm reading "Confronting the Presidents" by Bill O'Reilly and really enjoying it. It's a thumbnail sketch of all the presidents, short bio, how they got to the White House, what they did in office, what was going on around them, their attitudes and principles. People compare Trump to Reagan - favorably or unfavorably - but he's really cut from the Teddy Roosevelt cloth.

I think that they want a united people - that supports THEM.

The Dem strategy has been class warfare and promising all kinds of goodies to the various "victims".
But they've overpromised. It was one thing to stand up for the poor and middle class - but they branched out and set every separate group as some kind of aggrieved victim they were going to save - but they never deliver.

This, by the way, is the raison d'etre for the Walkaway movement begun years ago - people who aren't yet Republicans, but they have walked away from the Democratic Party - because it finally dawned on them that they PROMISE and NEVER DELIVER.

Another 1 of his quotes:
“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all.”
