Teenagers Expelled From Home & Church

ST. GEORGE, Utah : When his parents discovered his secret stash of DVDs, including the "Die Hard" series and comedies, they burned them and gave him an ultimatum: Stop watching movies or leave the family and church for good. With television and the Internet also banned as wicked, along with short-sleeve shirts - a sign of immodesty - and staring at girls, let alone dating them, Woodrow made the wrenching decision to go.

Ten months ago, with only a seventh-grade education and a suitcase of clothes, he was thrown into an unfamiliar world he had been taught to fear.

Makes sense after reading the article that the polygamous community would need an excuse to expel adolescent males in order to keep at least a
3-female to 1-male ratio.

Excerpt from the article states the following:
Members of the sect believe that to reach eternal salvation, men are supposed to have at least three wives

Incidentally, although the LDS Church officially states that it prohibits the practice of polygamy, there are too many instances that indicate the practice is still alive and well in main-stream Mormonism. Fundamental religious views always adhere to the founder's practices and, sure enough, it was Joseph Smith's approval and decree that Mormon men were to take multiple wives in order to provide the means for spirit-babies who were waiting to enter the world.

The early LDS church leaders were "pursuaded" by the U.S. Government to drop the "acceptance and encouragement of polygamy" if they ever wanted Utah to become a state of the Union. So, "for the record," Mormons no longer practice polygamy.

Probably the teenage boys Hustler collection.

That wasn't one of the periodicals that my Jr. High library carried. They did burn a photography book I had gotten from the school library though.

They did toss all of my record collection. I wasn't allowed to have anything but Donnie and Marie for the two years I lived with my dad and is B#$@* wife.

That's funny, decades ago back in the early 80s a local church has a public book/album burning and before the bonfire ceremony they explained book/album for book/album why they were burning them. One of the albums was Donnie & Marie and when asked why the minister said it was because they were trying to spread Mormanism among "true" Christians through their music.

Total wack jobs. Polygamy is about sex no matter which way its looked at. Destroying knowledge is the ultimate act of ignorance and an act of control over others. Nothing more.
The LDS cultists are crooked and there will be revalations that will shake the foundation of this organization one. Much like the catholic church has undergone. Simply a matter of time.
To have so many people insulated from outside views and contact will inevitably lead to abuses of all types in the name of "god".
"American Taliban"?

Exactly Right! In Islam, Muhammad allowed Muslim men to marry up to four wives so that if one wife was unable to meet his "desires" some evening the Muslim husband would still have one of the other wives to turn to. The reasoning by Muhammad is that this prevented the man from committing "adultry"... Go Figure!

By the way, Muhammad was permitted by Al'lah to take as many wives as he desired, even from among his own relatives. This was an "exclusive" privilege granted by Al'lah and only for Muhammad, according to Islamic theology.

There was a news story a few years ago about one of the ME countries (Iran I think) and the one hour wives. Because adultery is against the law, there are these "wives" for hire that will marry a man for an hour, have sex with them and then get divorced at the end of the session.

Yes. It is also rather quite easy for a Muslim husband to divorce his wife. All the Muslim has to do is to proclaim the words "I Divorce You" three times in succession and the divorce from that wife is complete. No one else needs to witness it - divorce is finalized upon this pronouncement!

Then, the Muslim male can go out and find another wife in place of the one just divorced so as to retain his quota of four wives if he wants.

This can go on in perpetuity whereas a Muslim male can really have as many wives as he wants throughout his life. When he tires of one he can divorce her and remarry another.

Muslim wives do not have this privilege and many live in constant fear that the husband can divorce her at anytime and just on a whim.

And there is no community property nor child custody issues; everything belongs to the man.

that actually sounds like a better system then the one we are wroking with. I have always said if you want the divorce rate to go down, make it hard to get married than to get divorved. Right now you can get married in a matter of days or even hours in some states, where as a divorce takes over a year....

Still, you can marry and divorce as much as you want so its not that much different, except that the women can have as many husbands (one at a time) as she wants too, unless of course you are catholic, then you better make the right choice the first time either way.
