..on my CELL PHONE!

Dammit. I thought cell phones were supposed to be off limits, but I went to the DoNotCall Registry to register my cell phone.

Sure enough, I get another automated telemarketing call in the middle of my workday.

Is there a way to report this? I didn't get a cell phone just so every schmuck in the universe can try and sell me crap.

Think they expire every couple years, I've re-upped my DoNotCall registry a couple times over the last 4 or 5 yrs. Sometimes it takes a couple days for them to stop after registering. Never heard of a law to stop them from calling a cell, they have always called mine. I like it, its the only calls I receive on my cell.

There are so many loopholes now there is no way to avoid the calls.

Make sure you read all disclaimers and privacy notices with any billings you may receive. You actually have to write in and take your name off the list. Even that probably wouldn't help.

We get credit card calls about lowering the interest constantly. We don't carry a balance and it's not the credit card company calling us. It's a secondary we were sold to (as a name/phone number and address)

The last phone call (two days ago) the biatch hung up on me after saying she had every right to call.

I've received several on my cell. I'm ready to go with the spam I get on my computer and cancel all phones.

Actually it no longer expires once the number is registered and cell phones are allowed to be registered too.
The problem is (just like everything else today) the callers don't care because most likely they won't be reported and prosecuted. I turn in every telemarketer that calls me on either phone, except charities because they won't get upset or hang up on me when I ask them to remove my number.
Sometimes I get pretty angry at the "do not call" people if I have to report the same number more than once. There's a box for comments now; there didn't use to be one before.

I turn it on them and try to sell them one of my calendars and talk my debt-freedom spiel. They usually hang up on me.

You are a nice person.

For every cockroach I crush there are several others which bother me.

I guess they like the thrill of me having their number and telling them I will sue for mental anguish.

I have had my cell on the do-not-call list since it started and I never get telemarketing calls on it. There is a time period you have to wait for it to take affect though (not sure how long, it’s been a while).

Time to update the telemarketers latest antics:

I called back one of the numbers that still persists in calling me ON MY CELL PHONE! (Heather, with credit card services). I called them back (after blocking my number) and their recording was a mockery of the "do not call" registry message. It said: "Welcome to the do not call registry. To have your number removed, press one..." The DNC registry does NOT ask you to press a number to have your number added to their list. I wouldn't dare press one because they normally tell me to press one to speak to a live operator. Then they can say that I called them!

I wonder how much the DNC people make for what they are NOT doing? I just wanted you folks to be aware of this childish trick of theirs...

The do not call list people don't take any actual direct action. They just forward a reported number to the states attorney of the state the number is registered to.

And your phone company will not do anything either. They all want you to pay an additional fee for their number blocking service.

The problem is, they call from different numbers each time so blocking doesn't really help.

I don't have the link but I heard today that the Supreme Court made it OK to sue telemarketers in Federal Court for harassment. Wonder how much we can make off of them? I'm guessing that, after a few mega lawsuits, they'll slowly go away? At least we can hope...
