B&H might not offer much in the way of "deals" (lowest price)... but ordering there will get you reliably fast shipping, excellent service and an overall rock solid reputation.

Depends.. how much you want to spend.
You can get cheap Nikon lenses, or you can get EXPENSIVE lenses.
The lenses that come in the kits are generally the cheapest models, SLOOOOW lenses, and can be had for a few hundred dollars. The fast telephotos with good glass run into the thousands.

For lenses it really depends on what you want to shoot. I typically will only purchase 2.8 lenses for the speed and low light capabilities.
If looking at a telephoto I would look at the Nikon 20-200mm lense. 2.8mm and it a great lens. I don't know if that is too much for the 3000 or not.
I run Canon but was looking at the D300 and D700 last year.
