Television in trouble

FOX News is reporting the Oscars could be reduced to a news conference, which would put NASCAR center stage.

Disney is now resorting to airing movies made by their arch rivals.

There will likely be NO new sitcoms or dramas this fall if the writers strike continues, meaning the only television there would be is reality TV.

CNBC says Viacom and Disney are in huge trouble.

So, the question I'm posing is: Does the WAG strike spell the beginning of the end of Hollywood?

If so, what will be center stage? Reality TV? Sports?

Books and classic movies, in my house.

I completely understand the rationale behind the strike, but I think it's unfortunate that so many "little people" (the crew) have to suffer as well. Many of them have been laid off (right before Christmas, no less), with no hope of returning back to work in sight.

I still wish Comcast gave us ESPN Classic that way I could watch the 6 historic Daytona 500's before the biggest of them all.

For me, it's been History Channel, Discovery Channel and NGC.

:yeahthat:

You know what is ironic? In the liberal bastion of Hollywood where socialism is embraced and they have no trouble railing for the "little man" they not only shiat all over the creative "little people" but a bunch of the shows are going back on the air with different writers or writing for themselves. In a sense they are crossing the picket lines or becoming scabs. Is this in keeping with the "little man"? Sounds like they only like socialism when they are raking in money hand over fist. When their livelihood is threatened all of a sudden unions don't mean much.

From what they write half of them need to find a job anyway.

Maybe this will bring back the variety show, where talent is the key.

All these award shows are just one big circle jerk. I've hated the hollywood crap for years, there hasn't been any class displayed by them in decades.
