Can anyone recommend a local repair shop for televisions? I work on NAS Pax so the Lexington Park area would be ideal.

Thanks in advance.

I can't recommend anyone, but I can say STAY AWAY FROM THE PLACE BY THE BOWLING ALLEY.

Probably cheaper just to buy a new tv.

:yeahthat: Unless its a high dollar TV, not worth it to pay to get it repaired. Bought 2 flat screen tvs(27" and 20") at Walmart the other day for $300 total. Our bathroom and closet TVs went on the blink and needed replacement.

He will rip you off before you even get the tv into his store.

Mark's Telethon....and yes, stay away from them. There is a little shop up in Dunkirk (up route 4), on the southbound side just south of the Dunkirk plaza. It's in a small plaza next to an Italian diner. I forget the name of the place. I took a TV there a few years ago for repair. He was not real quick but charged a very fair price and it was done right. That's the only other electronics repair place in SOMD I know of.

:yeahthat: I went in there once to try to find some high-quality RCA cables...the guy looked at me like I was from outer space. He didn't know what an RCA cable was! :dork:

I'd also say just buy a new TV (or a used one from the classifieds). It'll probably be cheaper than having the old one repaired.

Makes you wonder how these guys stay in business. I went in there looking for a DVi cable from my HD box. He says, "I aint got one of them gismos"! I looked around and some of the tv's had the push-pull power buttons, with the rotary channels. I bolted for the door.

I don't know what happened to Mark's TV but whatever it was, it was bad. 5 years ago I would have recommended them to fix anything but anymore, they don't seem interested.

I agree though, TV's aren't worth fixing compared to the price of new.

Here's the answer you are looking for: http://www.spts.com/

If your TV is worth getting fixed take it up to Washington D.C. to Strauss. They repair cameras and all types of electonics.

This place repairs stuff for NASA and they are very resonably priced. They aren't in the greatest part of Washington D.C. but they have been there for years and are worth the trip.

Many camera and electronics repair shops will take your item in their shop and ship it to Strauss for actual repair. Their technicians wear white lab coats and look like doctors.

Check them out. They are only about a hour away if the traffic isn't bad.

Good Luck!

Mark's Telethon did a good job at fixing the power-on degaussing circuitry in my Sony TV for a fair price.

It was a TV worth fixing, at least to put in the bedroom.

Yup, I have had a similar experience to the majority of you all at this place. How the heck does this dude stay in business?
