At an event to commemorate the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNDR) today, the Nobel laureate said the detention of suspected al-Qaeda and Taliban members at the US naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, was a "huge blot on a democracy".

"Whoever imagined that you would hear from the United States and from Britain the same arguments for detention without trial that were used by the apartheid government," Archbishop Tutu said."

The Bush administration has made the USA into a criminal Country.

Tutu has done such a wonderful job on civil rights in his own country.
Half the country starving the other half dying from AIDS. If he wants to complain let him complain about conditions in his own country. He travels the world offering advice--offer it to your own people pal. Clean your own house first.

He seems to have Apartheid of the brain. His country has done so well since Apartheid was defeated.

Tutu accepts the good graces of the world and lives pretty damned good traveling the world and offering advice. He lives pretty high on the hog for a man from a country that cannot feed its own people.

I believe you are attacking the messanger while avoiding the message.

Desmond Tutu did much for his own Country and the people there are not starving any more after the bigoted whites lost power, and South Africa does give civil rights that never existed under the white rule, and Tutu traveling in airplanes and living in nice or luxury Hotels have nothing to do with his message given.

Both the USA and Israel are indeed acting as criminal Countries and Tutu is correct in his claims.

6 out of 10 people in South Africa are starving. Civil Rights?? There are none. How many Civil Rights did white farmers get?

Oprah link has already been there for us and has reported back that South Africa is much improved now that the whites are out of power.

That Country still has problems but at least now the authorities are working to correct the problem instead of creating them as the white folks did.

But now is a happy time of year so let us start acting like Chistians - or like it is a happy holiday.

As I have said before : I do not judge things or people as "good" or "bad" as that is a dysfunction.

And I certainly do not "hate" my own race, I do not hate white people / caucasions, and I certainly have never ever said that I did.

The sad fact of history is that in South Africa the white people forcibly occupied that area and forcibly degraded the black people in South Africa.

That is not racist, it is not anti-white, it is just a sad part of our history.
