Isaiah 55:8-9
I really have this overwhelming urge to tell my story of
how God saved our life and that of our unborn child's.
For those interested, here is my story.
It was an unseasonably warm autumn night in 2002 and my soon to be husband (we've been married since May 2003), was taking me on a date. After meeting him at his place for the first time he informed me that we were taking his street bike (a Yamaha YZF R1) to a secret location for a romantic evening.
He gave me his riding jacket and a helmet. He also wore a jacket and
helmet.
I was scared to death putting the helmet on. My knees wanted to buckle
right there.
I had this gut feeling like this was wrong. Something bad was going to
happen. I didn't know what, I just was really uneasy. I started
praying the moment I put that helmet on and I didn't stop praying. I
am extremely claustrophobic and not wanting to pass out, I open the eye
shield on the helmet and took a few deep breaths. He asked if
everything was ok, and I acknowledge him and said lets go.
We climbed on and off we went. I was praying like I had never prayed
before. The uneasy feeling never subsided, it got a little easier maybe because I was comfortable in knowing that he wouldn't do anything to put me in harms way.
We got on I-50 and keeping with traffic He was going about
80-85mph.
We were in the far right lane, a few miles short of our exit. I looked
over his right shoulder and saw what appeared to be a plastic
grocery bag or a white trash bag. He saw this too. Still praying, I
had this overwhelming peace come over me at this time. Whatever that was
in the road- Mike hit it head on. He did not lean or swerve to miss it,
He hit it head on. For what seemed like a few seconds ended up being
about half a mile or more. We took the next exit and following us were
passing motorist. We pulled into a gas station and as did this couple
following us on the interstate.
Mike and I both got off the bike and were like what the heck just
happen. We were at a loss for words. This man got out of his SUV, walked
up to Mike and asked if the two of us were ok. He told Mike " My
wife and I just knew you were about to go down and so we backed off. I
didn't want to hit you when you guy's landed and skidded in the
road. There were sparks flying from under your bike and it looked like
the 4th of July. Dude, the back wheel was lifted off the ground by like 2 feet. Then this man said, "I just want to shake your hand, I
don't know how you kept that bike upright man, but that was amazing.
Mike shook his hand and said thanks for stopping to make sure we were ok.
So there was some damage underneath the bike, but it was still drivable.
We drove it back to his house where we ended our evening.
A few weeks later we learned that we were expecting. I was about 2
months along.
Mike and I both know that, that was God that saved our lives that night.
Not only did he save our lives, but the life of our born daughter.
Truly a Miracle if you ask me.....
