Laura Ingraham was ranting about this this morning. I don't see what's the big deal.

Just make sure you have Peso's in case you want to buy pizza when you get back to the US...

Actually, I agree, everywhere I have traveled overseas no one had a problem accepting my US greenbacks...

I always assumed that US businesses don't take foreign currency because their employees don't know the exchange rate.

I think they are probably not giving the exact exchange rate. Maybe making a centavo or two on each exchange. Pretty smart I'd say. Especially if your pizzas suck. :lmao:

Well that's a given. They can barely give change for american dollars ... even w/ the help of a cash register.

:yeahthat: I read an article about it yesterday and figured, so what?
Ditto...

Most of the stores in Europe would take greenbacks, although the exchange rate sucked compared to the banks.. The taxi drivers generally gave a better exchange rate.

I don't even see how that is news except maybe it's so far from the border. In border towns in AZ lots of businesses took pesos. Ever get a Canadian quarter in your change?

I never even tried to use US dollars in foreign countries. I always got local currency.

But if they can handle the added effort to take Pesos, whatever. They might be able to profit a little more from it too.

Growing up in Michigan, used to get Canadian money all of the time. Stores took it at face value in the 60's and 70's.
