I was listening yesterday afternoon when it was discovered and turned the scanner back on last night and they were still working on it; those people are REAL HERO'S, non-payed and still committed :buddies:

From what I heard, it was about 2 acres burning. Apparently, they had to call in every brush truck in the county and a tanker from Calvert. They were out there from around 5:00 yesterday afternoon to around 4:30 this morning (!).

The wind shifted overnight because my house reeked of wood smoke this morning.

Glad to know that you are safe, Radiant, and that the hard working men and women were so dedicated to putting out the fire.

There were a ton of us out there last night. Every department in the county had people there, plus a few departments from Calvert and Charles. If I had to guess, I'd say it was roughly four acres in a ravenous area that was burning. It was very difficult to contain because it was burning so hot, the air temperature was so hot, and every time we thought the head was out, it would spot up in another area. Everybody did a really good job containing it and putting it out.

I thank you so much for containing the fire and protecting our home. We aren't right next door to the fire, but we are close enough that it could have gotten to us......in a very bad way.

A lot of ravines. If it's not a word, I made it one

Thank you for your hard work. Now please go down and put a sponk knot on Animallver4lifes head, because she's posting in the other thread that you guys gave up battling the fire because it was getting dark. :cds:
