A friend is having a pre-TG dinner with all the trimmings on Wednesday, and it's doubtful Monello cares about celebrating on Thursday (if he's even back home by then). So if I'm feeling festive I might get a turkey pot pie and share it with Apollo. :jet:

Sounds really good!! (minus the honey I am not a fan of honey :dead:)

We're doing Thanksgiving w/ the extended family Thursday where I'll bring a few side dishes...havent decided what yet though :ohwell:

Saturday I'll be hosting our own Thanksgiving at my house. Here's our menu:

Smoked Turkey
Mashed Taters w/ Giblet Gravy
Mac & Cheese
Fresh Green Bean Casserole
Stuffing
Cauliflower Gratin
Broccoli Casserole
Shrimp Fried Rice (family tradition from San Diego that we've gotta have!)
Brussel Sprout Casserole
Hawaiin Sweetrolls

Super excited!!

So far, I have: Turkey tenderloin and a couple of wings. I haven't decided yet how they'll be prepared, and I'm interested in suggestions. There will only be 3.5 people at our table, so a whole turkey is out of the question. The above Brussel Sprout recipe, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, dutch apple pie, vanilla bean ice cream.

What about making the tenderloin into a roulade filled w/ the stuffing?

That's a good idea. I'll have to look at some recipes. Thanks!
No problem :yay:
I won't have the kids on Thanksgiving but they want me to cook them a good dinner when they get home since their grandmother massacres the turkey. I have a 14 lb. bird for three of us. Think that will be enough?

Here's how I cook it:

This gives both a beautifully browned bird and nice juicy meat.
I use Altons method and brine also...the only thing I do different is I add some apple cider to the brine. You're right super pretty bird and juicy :yay:
Wow! Yum! I bookmarked that. :yay:

It's really good. I never liked brussel sprouts til I started making them this way.

I am going to try making beet mashed potatoes. Sounds gross, but I had them recently and they were amazing. Here's the recipe I'm going to use. Can't tell you if it's a good one or not, because I've not tried it yet, but it seems to be the closest to what I think I had. :yay:

Okay, I'm gonna' go out on a limb here and say...that really sounds good. LOL. Maybe ya' have to like beets to appreciate something like this.

I think beet mashed potatoes sounds great - love me some beets. :yay:

Well if you like beets, my favorite way of cooking them is somewhat like a baked potato. I take a fresh beet, roll it around in some salt, add a sprig of fresh rosemary, wrap in tinfoil and bake. I should try other fresh herbs, but the rosemary is so perfect, I just haven't gotten around to trying anything else.
