With about 1 in 7 Congress critters (63) not fully in compliance with the STOCK Act this is much to do about nothing. Remember that they (Senate and House) get to set their own rules for punishing or removing a member and to remove one they have to have 2/3 voting for the removal, it won't happen.

Rep. Jamie Raskin Warns Republicans Could Make Donald Trump Speaker Of The House

"They talk about it repeatedly. And if Trump decided he wanted to do it, it would pose a profound problem for their party," Raskin told CBS's "Face The Nation."

MARGARET BRENNAN: But these 155 House Republicans are his constituency, Kevin McCarthy, if he wants to be leader, will need to consider as well –

RASKIN: Yes, it's a real problem for Kevin McCarthy now, because there are certain pro-Trumpists within his House caucus, who refuse to accept that he's really with Trump and they want to get rid of McCarthy. And some of them-- they have names very early in the alphabet, like Biggs. And they might just vote for Trump, when they you know, take the roll call for speaker so we know that the-- the hard right Freedom Caucus people are in search of another candidate and one potential candidate whose name has been floated is Donald Trump himself, because the Speaker of the House does not have to be a member of the House. And they are talking about putting Trump right there.

MARGARET BRENNAN: That's not a real option, though.

RASKIN: Well, they talk about it repeatedly. And if Trump decided he wanted to do it, it would pose a profound problem for their party because they refuse to do the right thing. Early on – I mean, today, it seems like the spell has been broken. It's begun to dissolve. We don't have Republicans around the country claiming that they really won when it's been certified that they lost their elections. And yet there is still this "Big Lie" dogma, which, as you say, has been embraced by 150 members within their caucus. And so that is going to create profound cognitive and political dissonance within the GOP. Is it really Trump's party? Or does it stand for something else? And Liz Cheney, and Adam Kinzinger are going to force that question, they're going to force the Republicans to choose.

Raskin: Running for Office Will Not Immunize Trump Against Prosecution

Cooper asked, “You’ve been uniquely positioned over the past several years as someone who understands the legal and constitutional issues swirling around the former president. If he is making this announcement in part believing that this will somehow protect him from investigations or indictments, is that accurate, do you think?”

Raskin said, “No, it’s absolutely wrong. In fact, the people who made that point most emphatically were his defenders in the Senate during the second impeachment trial, who said that the proper way to deal with a former president who has engaged in criminality is to prosecute him rather than impeach anymore he has already left office. Of course, that contradicted more than two centuries of understanding that a public official does not have to still be in office in order to be impeached, tried and convicted. But any event, everybody agreed that he could be tried. I mean, under our Constitution, we don’t have an office of former president of the United States. A former president of the United States is just a citizen, and the highest office in our land is that of citizen, not president and not former president. So you don’t have a right to commit murder as a president or embezzlement or bribery or seditious conspiracy or attacks on federal proceedings or what have you. He can still be tried. I think the Department of Justice has been clear about that. All that matters is the facts of the case and the law. There is a slight exception to that that they don’t bring cases against candidates several weeks or maybe a month before an election. But other than that, you know, running for office is not something that will immunize you against prosecution.”

Raskin Gives Talking Points Away When He Smears Tucker Over Jan. 6 Footage

“McCarthy giving 40,000 hrs of Jan. 6 tape to a pro-Putin journalist is an astounding ethical collapse,” Rasking complained. “What security precautions were taken to keep this from becoming a roadmap for 2024 insurrection? Why isn’t it available to all media & public? Smell the MAGA propaganda coming.”

So only the visuals that the Committee wants should be out there. If what the Committee released shows different security angles of the cameras, they think that’s fine. But apparently, no other video being released is fine. Now Raskin asks why the video isn’t available to all the media. Make up your mind, you can’t have it both ways. They could have released this video, but they chose to keep it back from the public. That’s on them. Raskin has the same problem with reality that Kinzinger had.

If they put all the truth out there, why should they be concerned? The fact that they are concerned tells you they know something other than what they presented is likely coming. That’s why the most important part of Raskin’s statement is the last part, the “Smell the MAGA propaganda coming.” He’s trying to get the jump on it, to claim whatever comes out of the video footage is somehow “propaganda.” There are the talking points. If looking at raw footage of what happened is “propaganda,” what is tailoring a whole committee to your political effort to get your political opponent?

We’re already hearing Tucker say that they’ve seen something that in some way contradicts what we have been told. So we know that’s going to further send the left over the edge, but they can’t stop what the footage is going to reveal, no matter how much they yell. There was no reason to withhold it, they could have excised classified information but released everything else.

How over the edge are some on the left with folks like Schiff and Raskin egging them on? Here’s Keith Olbermann going full fascist, calling to shut down Fox News, using Raskin’s words. To save “democracy,” of course so only one political narrative survives.

Jamie Raskin Refuses To Give Details About What Was In FBI Document Alleging Biden Corruption

“What I know is that the FBI, Department of Justice team under William Barr and Scott Brady, in the Western District of Pennsylvania terminated the investigation, they said there were no grounds for further investigative steps. So they ended that,” he said. “Now, in terms of another investigation. You know, I can’t speak to that. I’ve seen nothing about that, and other than published reports.”

When asked again if the document was part of an ongoing investigation, Raskin said, “I must have missed that, because I’ve not heard that this is part of any ongoing investigation.”

Raskin said that he would not go into the details of the allegations contained in the document, in part to protect the FBI source, who he said could be revealed if he disclosed details.

“Abstracting from the particulars of this case, we’re talking about something pretty extraordinary here, which is an FBI document that is a report of a confidential human informant,” he said. “And the FBI depends on these people in order to make their cases. And so obviously, they are categorically, absolutely interested in maintaining the confidentiality of these people’s identities and their identities can obviously be deduced from certain kinds of facts. If you start releasing interview documents that they’ve, you know, they’ve confided in the FBI. So we want to be very careful about that and I would think that that’s not a partisan issue. That’s something all of us should agree to.”

If that snake decides to run for Senate, I'll register as a Dem just to vote for someone else in the primary.

From what's been going on some officials are getting behind a black female delegate that's running. I'd think Raskin or Sarbanes would jump in before long or is it she would be the 1st black female Senator from MD thing. Democrats are all about the firsts.

Trone has already announced. He's probably about as moderate as a Dem can get in MD. Unfortunately the doesn't mean much anymore.
