That "well oiled machine"...

...here we go again. Our inept and incompetent President makes another in his long line of inept and incompetent policy decisions and his Administration spends the next few weeks completely contradicting or walking back what our inept and incompetent President said:

Bolton Says U.S. Withdrawal From Syria Is Conditional
JERUSALEM—The Trump administration won’t withdraw U.S. forces from northern Syria unless Turkey offers a firm commitment not to target America’s Kurdish allies, White House national security adviser John Bolton said Sunday, underscoring the challenges in executing the president’s wishes to put an end the military campaign.

Mr. Bolton will travel to the Turkish capital on Monday as part of a regional tour aimed at laying the groundwork for the withdrawal. Speaking to reporters in Jerusalem on Sunday, he said that Mr. Trump’s order to withdraw U.S. troops is a “cause and effect mission” that requires certain assurances from various players in the region before it can be executed.

“Timetables or the timing of the withdrawal occurs as a result of the fulfillment of the conditions and the establishment of the circumstances that we want to see,” he said. “It’s not the establishment of an arbitrary point for the withdrawal to take place as President Obama did in the Afghan situation...the timetable flows from the policy decisions that we need to implement.”

He said that Mr. Trump has told Mr. Erdogan that withdrawal is pending assurances that Turkey will protect Kurdish fighters who have long provided the U.S. with solid support in the campaign against Islamic State militants, adding, “I’m going to follow what the president said.”

Of course none of this is the stated policy of withdrawal "NOW" by our inept and incompetent President.

It is also not the stated policy of the Turkish President who is on record as stating that Turkey will go in and destroy the Kurds upon our exit.

So here we have another prime example of what Donald Trump calls a "well-oiled machine" of an administration.

Your continued banality is tiresome, someone convinces Trump to change his mind and you bitch

It's funny how she knows the inner workings of Trump's mind and the mind of the President of Turkey.
She should definitely be on board as an advisor, since she can read minds.

I see absolutely nothing wrong here.

Do you play poker? Ever enter into negotiations? Ever bluff to see what your opponent is thinking? (As an example, think back to just last week when a Chinese academic talked about taking out US aircraft carriers....)

At the macro level, this is part and parcel as to how one does persuasion. Scott Adams makes the point about the superiority of a system over a goal and often points out on his blog how Trump is pursuing system objectives as opposed to goals. Allow me to recommend, Win Bigly: Persuasion in a World Where Facts Don't Matter or How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big: Kind of the Story of My Life. You can get a quick understanding of "systems v goals" in this post: Goals vs. Systems.

A snippet:
For example, losing ten pounds is a goal (that most people can’t maintain), whereas learning to eat right is a system that substitutes knowledge for willpower.

Also, may I recommend books by Robert Cialdini (such as Pre-Suasion: A Revolutionary Way to Influence and Persuade)?

If you don't understand persuasion you will think Trump is nuts. If you do understand persuasion, then you just might come to the conclusion that Trump may actually know what he is doing. Just like new NYC Congresswoman AOC, btw.
