LOS ANGELES, Chile - Thirty soldiers were found in a small mountain shelter amid a fierce snowstorm, and the army resumed its search Friday for 45 who have been missing for two days in what the top army commander called "a snow tsunami."
The bodies of four soldiers were recovered, the military said. It had given the death toll as five on Thursday and didn't explain the discrepancy.
The soldiers, mostly youths who recently began their mandatory military service, were returning from a military drill Wednesday when they were caught in the snowstorm in the Andes, 350 miles southeast of Santiago, the capital.
