The County Seat

It's been a while since I have had a review so here it goes...

Recently ate with the family at the County Seat. I have been there for lunch by myself and had take-out. The wraps all seem good. However eating in was very bad.

Scale 1-10 with 10 best.

Food quality 5 I had a hamburger (not bad) french fries (no flavor)

Service 2 The waitress gave seemed to wait a LONG time before she came over (no one else was in the store). She took or order came back with our food. Never brought us silverware or napkins!!!! Mind you were eating with 4 kids.........

Atmosphere 7 (lots of potential) The place seems clean and well kept

Price 4 With 4 kids they all have to eat of the kid's menu. I think paying about 46 dollars was a little high for the quality and quantity of what we got.

In conclusion, it's not bad if you want to run in and get a wrap to go. However, I will not be going back again with the family for a quick dinner.

never heard of it

They're the a-holes that pretty much ran Do-Dah Deli out just so the owner of the building could open up a craptacular food place. They suck, don't go, you're not missing much.

Instead, go down Washington St. make a left on Rt 5 north and a right into the Breton Marketplace..... Thats where the Do-Dah Deli is located and that is where you should be eating. :peace:

Actually there is a new owner at County Seat. Not the same people who opened it.

Actually, isn't that also happened to Linda's?

I also seem to recall that something like this happened to the old Showtime Deli, which was taken over by Charlies.

What is it about this county? A restaurant opens up, does well, and then the next thing you know, the owner of the building raises the rent and gets them kicked out so that either they, or one of their buddies, can open another restaurant on the same spot.

How long has it been under the new management?

I'm still so PO'd about what happened to Doo-Dah, I don't think I could ever bring myself to go there.

We've ordered carry-out there before and I've been in on a couple of occasions since it has become County Seat (never for dine-in and always for a lunch visit).

During the "lunch rush", it has always been chaotic, but almost no one seems to complain. I don't recall seeing a waitress, only counter service~~> where you give your order, get a ticket, then retrieve your silverware yourself, etc.... and pick up your order when your ticket is called (think Panera).

I can atest that the salads are awesome. And you are the first I've ever heard comment negatively about the sweet potatoe french fries. But to each his own.

I prefer these small-owned businesses over the big chains, and for the most part, I think the staff have better attitudes. With the exception of Linda's. Our last experience there was a joke that Linda removed our brunch charges from our bill (but still charged us for the coffees! :yay: :lmao: :roflmao:)

Thanks for the review, though! :yay:

I can't handle the separate hot and cold system at Doo-Dah. One person orders a sub that comes right out, but you order a hot chicken sandwich and have to wait for that and the fries to come from the back. One person could be done a cold sub before you get yours.

That's since changed. Now, they have a waitress who comes out and takes your order...

What love is all about
From what I have gathered from the posts foodcritic does not like anywhere he eats. Maybe he should stay home from now on.

Not if you are getting take out. you still order up front and have to wait for both hot and cold orders (they forgot my hot order last week, and it took 15 minutes of me complaining til they filled it)

when did they start this? I was in there July 18th (my sisters bday), a week after you posted this, and nothing had changed...

I think it was early-July--definitely within the last month. Maybe it depends on the time of day or maybe they changed it back.

County Seat has CLOSED. Do Dah is better anyway AND delivers.

I think it's called.... Karma... You cannot treat people bad and expect to be successful. Ultimately, a closed business comes back on the owner of the building, - which is the person that caused Do Dah to no longer be there.
