Mark 13:32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”
I have heard so many hard-to-understand sermons on these verses I cannot count them even if I could remember them all.I'm blind now, so I cannot drive. I am also afraid of the flu and COVID [Lyme disease and metastatic cancer make me vulnerable] and getting shot by some disgruntled person with the AK they brought to work that morning. I stay home.
Hubby on the other hand, does all the shopping and he has picked up a new love for Bulldog Canyon Trail. He bought an Arctic Cat utility vehicle, and his buddy traded an old car for a Razor. They go out on the weekends.
When Hubby is gone, I know he will return but I'm never quite sure when he will walk in that door. If he's gone shopping, he will want me to help with putting away the groceries. I keep an ear out.... "The day and the hour".... are unknown.
When he's out with his buddy on the trail with the buggies.... I don't know when they will be back. Oh, I know they are in the canyon. I know they are generally back in a couple hours. He will tell me what time he "thinks" they'll be back but I'm never sure he'll make it back, let alone be "on time". I tell myself I won't worry until he's a couple hours late. I wouldn't call rescue until he's a "few" hours late. Some of those hills in the canyon can take some time to get over.
Waiting for Jesus to return is like that. We know He's coming back. He told us He would be back.
Waiting for Jesus to return is like waiting the couple of hours, and a few extra hours, and checking the batteries in the clock hours.
Jesus told us when He would be back. He gave us signs to look for. But.... have we had enough wars and rumors of wars? Have we endured enough pandemic? Have we starved enough? Have we had enough earthquakes? Humans are dying. Will the caldera in the park have to blow for us to look up and see Him coming? Will the nuclear weapon have to be incoming for us to look up? Which nation has not heard the Word?
I'm not sure when Hubby is going to walk through that door loaded down with bread, milk, and eggs to be put away.
I'm not sure when Jesus is going to appear in the clouds with His Legions of Angels to begin His 1,000-year reign.
I keep an ear out for the door and an eye on the skies.
"The day and the hour" will be here.
