I think a lot of that is a stereotype. Maybe; maybe not.
The cat I had for however long it was I had her would hear me come in the door and make a beeline for the front door; and if I didn't pick her up, whe would be under foot until I did. She didn't necessarily want to be fed; just wanted attention. When her bowl was empty and if by some chance I didn't notice; she would sit in front of it and look at it; then up at me; then back down at the bowl as if to say, "Uh, my bowl's empty here; wanna fix that?"

But this is the Dogs thread.....carry on.....

My cat will come around not long after I get home. In the AM, while the dog is still in his crate upstairs, the cat will lounge next to me. But if the water bowl is empty, he will actually move it around with his paw til I fill it.

You're layin' back in the Lay-Z-Boy; remote in one hand; beer/soda whatever in the other, watchin' the tube and channel surfin'. The cat either jumps up on your lap; curls up and goes to sleep or, walks up to your chest and curls up there, under your chin. I used to have to watch TV with my head tilted to the left because she would curl up on the right side of my chest.

.....and get water all over the floor too, right?
Yeah.....I know, this is the "DOG'S" tred.....
