We have two cats and two dogs. One of our cats has poop that is the stinkiest thing I have ever smelled in my life. Seriously. The stinkiest. We know as soon as he poops, regardless of where we are in the house so we are very good about cleaning it up quickly.

However.

If we wait a moment too long....the dogs will eat it. We can't give anything to the cat to make his poop taste bad(?) because he has such a sensitive tummy and it makes him very ill. We also cannot put a little door on the cat room because the cat is bigger than the dogs.

Is there anything else we can do? I tried feeding them more so they wouldn't eat it but that hasn't worked.

It's so gross and embarrassing for the dog to come trotting across the room with a tootsie roll. Any suggestions?

Yeah

My ex-roommate's dog used to raid the catbox until we put up a baby gate to the laundry room where the box was. The cat could jump over - and the dog could have, too, but he never did.

We tried a gate. Apparantly the cat won't jump over it, he just poops on the living room carpet instead. We do keep the dogs and cats separated when we leave the house. The dogs stay upstairs and that cats stay downstairs.

And speaking of his poop - it is really really stinky. Like, unnaturally stinky. He's eats Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. Anything else gives him an upset tummy. Is this normal for a cat? The other cat is perfect. She might actually poop butterflies, I wouldn't know because I never have to deal with her.

We have two dogs and two cats too. Both of our cats have the worst smelling poop ever but we just spray febreeze and open the window. Our dogs have gotten in trouble any time they go near the box. We do have big litter boxes and they are covered but no door. They constantly lick the cats butt all the time and there is no stopping that. So lately the dogs will go in and drag some poop out, but they get in trouble and they only do it if we are outside or sleeping so we just put a baby gate up. Try it when your at home(putting the gate up) and train your cat to go over...put treats or catnip on the other side something your cat likes. Try moving the litter box close to the gate on the opposite side so the cat knows he's allowed there and keep working at it. The cat won't keep popping on your living room. Cats hate doing that so there's a reason such as he can't get over the gate, maybe he thinks he's not allowed. He will get it, but the dogs cant eat that stuff cats have so many diseases and nasty stuff in their feces.

Can you put the litter box up on a table or something?

Our dog has taken to eating poo. Chicken poo, sheep poo, the other dog's poo. I think I'm going to get a basket muzzle to put on him when he's outside.

Suggest you look at what you are feeding your cat.....
My guy had "issues"...changed his food to a healthier brand and in a few weeks, no more "issues". Cats are meat eaters and most cat food has so much corn it makes them sick.
I feed mine California Natural..No corn or corn fillers....might help...cats digest more of the food than the corn based food that they cant digest...
Good Luck!!!

Had a dog that would eat his own waste. Talked to a Vet that told me it was due to a vitamin deficiency. Put him on some doggy vitamins and he stopped. Might be worth a try.
