The dreaded blue screen

I have gotten a blue screen three times that says:

Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity check/ Memory parity error
The system has halted

:jameo: :jameo: :jameo: :jameo:

What does this MEAN???

I'm freaking out, Dell has only had me do a system restore to two days ago. Why do I have a feeling that this is something major and they're treating it like its not?

HELP ME!!!!!

TIA! :flowers:

I didn't read through the whole discussion but it's talking about this error on Dell laptops. Hope you can find something useful in it.

From the site:

I was reading another forum that suggested it might be the nvidia drivers from the dell site, I was using them for a while, and had crashes, i switched to the ones on the nvidia site 2 days ago and no crashes since, will keep this updated if i get another blue screen.

Laptop, sorry went to dinner

Think he's right, reseat your memory. More than likely they are on the bottom of your laptop. Google "install memory for Dell laptop" and that might give ya help.

Well, I'm trying to get Nvidia drivers from Nvidia.com and it says its gonna take 12hrs.!!! WTF?? I tested my upload speed and its rockin so I don't have a clue as to why this is taking so freaking long! I did download Nvidia drivers from Dell yesterday so I'm wondering if that is the problem. But do I really have to wait 12 friggin hours??? :jameo:

Usually when you start getting the infamous "blue screen of death" and a message like you've been getting, there's a compatibility issue with some driver you've just installed and it is not a failure with the hardware. I had something similar with my Dell laptop awhile ago and it was because of the drivers.

I have no idea if it's going to take 12 hours but I would find it highly unlikely unless you're on dial-up...like me. :ohwell:

Nope no dial up, and my upload is running in the 600's, and my download is in the 3M range, so the only thing I can come up with is that their site might be overloaded with people downloading drivers for the new OS. I will try again tomorrow. In the meantime I guess I will just keep my fingers crossed :ohwell:

Pookieboo!!!
You mentioned you installed Nvidia drivers from Dell that you downloaded. Why did you update the driver?

What operating system are you running? Windows XP?

Well, the obvious answer since you're getting the "blue screen of death" is YES. :lmao:
