FWIW, a PhD should know the difference between a here & hear.

And they wonder why their coffee cups get dirty dicked.

Yup, did about a month of mess cooking 1970, learned really fast who's cup to rim. Watched him drink the mud with a smile on my face.:)

Funny, flew thousands of times as a FE, usually a first name basis on liberty and in the cockpit. I trusted them to fly, they trusted me to take care of the aircraft and it's systems in flight and on the deck. One thing I learned, if we got lucky they phucked exactly like I did.
What goes on on det stays on det.
Yeah, the Lt is an assshole, rude awakening in his future.

That reminds me of a story I read when I first found this forum. I was searching for fishing spots. Some officer's wife got busted shoplifting in the navy exchange on base. She put 1 shirt under another shirt on the hanger and tried to purchase both as a single item. They busted her. Enlisted military police hauled her away. She claimed she was set up by the enlisted because she was an officer's wife. The replies were hilarious. Then the post went poof. But it was classic myopic gold.

What platform?

I flew on 4 types. P-3 props then C-9s, T39s & the best ride of all the C-20.

I took a bunch of hops on C141s. Occasionally got on a C-2 or a C-130. Now it's C-17s & C-5s.

FWIW, the P-3 bus drivers were the most down to earth. A few of the jet jocks had egos so big that almost didn't allow for any passengers on board.

Buck 18's (which I liked) 131H's (turbo Convairs which I LOVED, and C9's which I hated enough to sign my page 13.

20 years and 4800 hours in P-3s. Lots of fun to be had around the globe. And about 2-3 hours unlogged in an H-60, an H-46, and maybe 10-15 as self loading cargo for some test flights on KC-130Js for hose reel cutting and countermeasures work.

In P-3s we usually had a pretty tight relationship between the Os and Es.

EA-3B, EP-3 & ES-3.

Ah, the Sea Shadow..... That is a name I've not heard in a long time. They was one of two in VX-1 when I did my last active tour between 93 and 96. Didn't have much to do with them, being an ordie and all :)

I was a black shoe aircrewman hauling trash worldwide for nearly 5 years. That's when I learned the P in VP stood for per diem.
The drone of those 4 2800's on 118's lower and slower sang per diem per diem per diem. Coast to coast and many flights in between were ALWAYS a RON. Maybe that's part of why I hated C9's.
Norfolk, Gitmo, Norfolk........... long and boring. 118 flights to Gitmo in the 70's was always a RON. EM Club watch the nightly fights was high on our list. RockemSockem robots guaranteed.
A great trip for me was a single night RON to Yuma....... leaving the next day starter overspeed on the #2 T-56, took almost a week for them to get me a new one. I scored on a cute local squaw night before, she was still in the room by the time I checked back in. Great time! RO 3 N to Belle Chasse, stayed at the Sheridan, had a blast. 2 week cruises to Rota so the slugs could get their 2 weeks in, rent a car, fill with 115/145 free and off we went to Torremolinos while the slugs took the bird. Fun times!
So many RON's not many bad experiences plus the lobster runs to Brunswick logged as a training flight. Couple bucks a pound, I forget.
Cockpit crew first name basis.
Old navy......... it was an embarrassment if the bird shiit the bed and the FE couldn't fix it on his own. New navy with designated A/C ratings I doubt that happens much anymore.
