Does film Compass steer kids in wrong direction?
Catholic group urges ban in fear kids will read the book, which is by an atheist author

"A national group of Catholics is urging parents to steer clear of the new film The Golden Compass — not because of the movie's content, but because their children might like it and read the book.

It's a twist on the typical movie boycott that has some shaking their heads but others, including at least one Houston school, pulling the fantasy novel from shelves."

Watch it
I'm strong enough in my faith and what I teach my kids that I'm not too worried about ONE film or ONE book. Open dialogue folks- it works. The film doesn't interest us anyways. LOL.

Open dialogue with kids is something that I never had with my parents, They told me what to do and I did it. My kids were raised the same way. Funny ,they really turned out fine . When they became young adults around 15 I opened the dialogue with them, but till then it was my way.

Kids dont need open dialogue, they need discipline and example from their parents. You open the dialogue and everything becomes an excuse for it. Just tell them the rules and have them obey. I am in no way telling other how to raise their children. If you want to stand and open a dialogue with an 8 year old, you go ahead and do it. But dont complain when they turn 15 and you cant do anything with them.
