I thought the Golden Rule was, "Do unto others before they do unto you."

I always liked the Golden Rule because intuitively, it's NOT what people think. It's active - you DO to others what you want them to DO to you.

What we usually think it means is sometimes called the Silver Rule - and that is, DON'T do to others what you don't want them to do to you.
